Everywhere there is globalisation. But although the majority of employees would see that as a negative development, it is welcomed by musicians all over the world. CIVILIZATION ONE is an excellent example, for how many bands from the West would otherwise be able to call upon a singer from Sri Lanka who already enjoys an superb reputation on the European metal scene? With their 2007 debut album, 'Revolution Rising', CIVILIZATION ONE left their first deep footprint on the worldwide metal scene, resulting in performances at well known festivals such as Prog Power UK and large events in Sri Lanka. In short, the foundations of the quintet were and are excellent. Not for nothing have they called their second album 'Callìng The Gods', because what they have achieved musically is Melodic Power Metal of such a high standard that it can compete with the biggest names on the scene. 'Calling The Gods' lives by its great compositions masterly combined with finger-cracking riffs, profound melodies and illustrious vocals. It matters little whether the band is playing a high-speed neckbreaker with double bass drums or swings between ballad-like passages and sensitive hymns, the impressiveness is the same. The album contains ten regular tracks, three bonus tracks and a video clip. With 'Spirit In The Wind' the band delivers an almost epic hymn with excellent guitar work, as well as two songs which you could almost describe as being experimentally structured. It must also be mentioned that these require some getting used to, as they were written for the Sri Lankan market. One of them is 'Believing The Dream', written for the Sri Lanka national cricket team at the 2011 cricket World Cup, the other is 'Dreams Of Fire', composed for the national Olympic team for the London 2012 games. The video clip is the track 'The Land In Flames'. With this, their second album, CIVILIZATION ONE have underlined their compositional diversity and deliver a high calory Melodic Power Metal album, which sounds remarkably punchy.
